Day 17 - COMMUNITY


Was awakened this morning by the honk honk honking of geese as they flew overhead. Flock after flock, skein after skein. Thousands of them probably. A breath-taking sight.

I love the way geese move together and communicate. Love the way they fly together and support one another. Love seeing community embodied in the sky like that.

I've experienced community many a time. In different places, in different lands. Sometimes it's been great, sometimes not so. Always an opportunity to grow though, in grace or grit or both. 

Times in Cambodia are especially memorable. When community was created, and sometimes cracked, in some very trying situations. And friendships forged within them too. 

Like with my still good friend, Sheila Reid. With whom I shared many a wobble and a giggle. And who penned this poem at a particularly tricky time. Inspired by a sight not unlike this morning's....
