About

On the 2nd November, this year of years, I turn 50.

Which fills me with WOWness and wonder. And much, much thankfulness. Particularly for all the people who've been part of those 50 years in different ways, in different places, at different times.

My thought pre-lockdown was to raise a cheer for them all by putting on a show. Inspired by the idea of "Ubuntu" - a South African word which roughly translates: "I am because we are." A hoped for opportunity to celebrate life, love and laughter, together.

But hey ho. No show will be showing soon.

Instead, however, I have a plan. Something that can pay the joy forward and still celebrate life, love and laughter. A fundraiser and a fun raiser. For kids of all ages. To do our giddy hearts some good in these tricky and trying times.

The cause? The Flying Seagull Project. A troupe of clowns, magicians, circus performers and musicians who work and play tirelessly around the world to bring smiles to those in need. Like street kids in Cambodia, youngsters in care in the UK and children living in refugee camps in Greece....

"Whenever we clowns enter a camp with our strange costumes and big energy, we bring a new dynamic into places where loudness and noise are not always encouraged. And we rekindle wild childhood play in places where too many kids have seen too much of war, fear and famine and too little of the childhood games and songs they should see." Pieter from Holland, aka Beaty

So here's to them. And to life, love and laughter. That young lives might continue to be enriched and strengthened through the work and play of the Seagulls and the skills and resources they pass on.

And here's to the next 50 days!! An unfurling of fun from September 14th to the Big Day. Wahey.

The plan is to do a fun thing everyday and post it on Facebook. And to write my overflow of thoughts in this blog. To share the joy and mark the journey. So join me here, there or come out and play some time. Be great to see you!
